One thing we have found at JG Locksmiths is a customer’s fear of call outs or completing work on a property that you rent without landlord/letting knowledge.
We are always happy to help here and dispel any myths. That being said…to some customers’ frustrations…we will also be honest and transparent when we say we will not complete any work that may be deemed illegal.
This weekend we were contacted by a lovely couple from the Hamilton area of Leicester requesting both help and advice in relation to a lock issue they were having at their property. The issue was something that we stumble across quite regularly so we were able to quote them over the phone.
On arriving and a quick inspection it was clear that the issue they were having with the lock was the result of a broken cylinder. The issue was not repairable and therefore the lock needed replacing which is what had previously been spoken about.
This issue can occur due to a number of reasons. However we tend to find in most cases it is a result of having left a key in the back of the door at some point, and another key being put in the opposite side accidentally…however normal wear and tear is also a cause.
We were able to install a new lock on site. With JG Locksmiths this particular lock was an anti snap, anti pick and anti drill lock at no extra cost. This came with 5 sets of keys for peace of mind.
Once the lock was changed our engineer remained and answered a number of questions that the tenants had in regards to the lock change.
As young home owners they had made attempts (over the weekend) to contact the landlord and letting company however had been unsuccessful.
As it was their only way out of the property they had taken the decision to call us out to avoid any emergencies.
We were able to attend the address within 30 minutes from first receiving the phone call, and left them with a fully functioning lock.
